Israeli - Palestinian Conflict
Needless to say that this topic has been on at the fore front of the world's mind for over 70 or may be even more years. It has been on my mind since I was a little child and the optimism that one day there will be peace and security in Israel has not abandoned me even in the worst times during this conflict. It was only when I lived in Israel in 2011/12 and during my university studies in Toronto that I began to write about it quite intensively. My writing represent my political (slightly) Left of Centre views and my belief that Israel occupation of Palestinians must end for a peaceful two-state solution to emerge. Will it be in my lifetime? Not according to the late Meir Dagan ex Israeli head of the Mossad who once told me when we met for coffee in Toronto:
"Not in your life time (I was 60 years old at the time and I am 73 when I write this) Not until there exist a concensus in Israel on the vision of Peace" He added that making peace with the Palestinians is an Israeli existential imperative and until and unless the Israeli people elect a government with a clear mandate to negotiate peace it will not happen. "Not in your life time".
As you may read in my article my optimism was crushed time and again by the reality of the lack of cohesive leadership in Israel and a powerless and divided Palestinian leadership unable or afraid to face the reality of the times and maybe not quite ready or capable to govern an independent Palestinian state. Read and decide for yourself:
